SOLVED: See posts below

Hello everyone 🙂

Having some issues with exporting from gimp. I have the latest version of gimp, put the GimpToSpine.py in my .gimp-2.8/plug-ins directory and after restarting gimp I can't tell the difference. Where is the menu supposed to show up? Or did I install the plugin wrong?

Thanks in advance for the help

It's gonna show up in the File menu! (:

(pardon the Italian interface)

Ah, not seeing that in my menu. So i know the script isn't being loaded. I'm on version 2.8.22 so where do you put the script? And then is there any additional steps? This will be the first script I've ever used with gimp so this is all new to me.

According to the guide on Github:

copy GimpToSpine.py to the GIMP plugin directory (eg install/lib/gimp/version/plug-ins/).

In my case, it was: C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins
You just copy the file there, then restart Gimp and it should show up (:

Eureka!

So first off I realized that my GimpToSpine.py file was just the html document of the page I downloaded it from. I right clicked the link and said save link as. My mistake. So I just copied and pasted the actual script to file on my computer and named the same.

Second with the new version of gimp you put your plugins in C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME.gimp-2.8\plug-ins

Thanks for your help Erikari, I now have Export to Spine in my gimp file menu 🙂
