Please attach your log file here so we can see what the problem might be.

Log file location

Windows: <user home folder>\Spine\spine.log
Mac: <user home folder>/Library/Application Support/Spine/spine.log
Linux: <user home folder>/.spine/spine.log

Maybe you are timing out so you can try running Spine from command line like.

Windows: Spine.exe notimeout
Mac: open Spine.app

---

args notimeout
Linux: ./Spine.sh notimeout

This disables timeouts.

If you download and reinstall Spine, the latest launcher uses a longer timeout. Also, on the second try it doesn't use any timeout at all.

I tried to run the Spine.app, but it still failed.
There is the log file which you can find in the attachment.
thanks a lot!

Also having the same problem. The update keept failing and this was also preventing Spine from starting. It was just stuck at the failed update screen and all you can chose is 'close'. After trying a few times it began to download, and when that finished it began to load. But then, after 5-8 seconds of loading, reaching 99% of the load, an "unexpected error" occurred which gave me the option to submit bug, and saved a log fil, which I have attached. I hope it can help you guys with fixing.

So, I tried to reinstall (uninstalled Spine and then downloaded the new launcher file from http://esotericsoftware.com). But after installing Spine completely anew and typing my activation code Spine still gets an "unexpected error" when reaching 99% loading. 🙁 this also gave the option to submit a log, so I have attached that also.

What do I do now? I uninstalled Spine completely and restarted the computer

EDIT: Just found out that my personal mail address was mentioned in the log file so for security reasons I had to delete that mail address and reupload the log file.

Ran, please download and reinstall the latest launcher. If the update fails, press OK to try again and the second time it won't timeout.

jayman1000, your crash is different. The update is downloaded and run, then crashes. I am uploading 1.8.39 right now which may fix this. For now you can put the text "1.8.35" into your version.txt file here:

Windows: <user home folder>\Spine\version.txt
Mac: <user home folder>/Library/Application Support/Spine/version.txt
Linux: <user home folder>/.spine/version.txt

Please create the file if it doesn't exist. This will cause Spine to use 1.8.35 and not the latest. You will need to delete the version.txt or click Spine, Settings and change "Update" to "Latest".

1.8.39 is now up, but there is still a problem. At least I can see it, so I can work on fixing it. I've reverted Essential on Windows to 1.8.35, everyone else is on 1.8.39 until this is fixed. Sorry!

Thanks very much Nate! I will do what you advised 🙂

And it works!

Great! 🙂 Which worked for you? Running on 1.8.35? That is ok to get you productive, but at some point I'm sure you'll like to update to the latest.

I've put up a version 1.8.39 that works on Windows. You may need to delete the old 1.8.39 here:

Windows: <user home folder>\Spine\updates
Mac: <user home folder>/Library/Application Support/Spine/updates
Linux: <user home folder>/.spine/updates

I would have uploaded it as a new version, but I'm having some serious troubles with the build working as it should. Super frustrating, I'd much rather be finishing runtimes or working on features!

Both 1.8.35 and 1.8.39 works, thanks again 🙂

Nate,
I downloaded and reinstalled the latest launcher, it worked!
Thank you very much~
